A day off to finish a book review and watch the Huskers

I was sent an “advance reader copy” of a first time novel so that I could review it. Started reading yesterday, and will be done by this evening. But, at 11:30 AM, I will watch the Huskers play McNeese State Cowboys, a very good FCS team, currently ranked #6.  Should be a competitive contest though the opponent is not a Division I school.

I am glad for TV and Nebraska’s ability to attract television coverage for just about each game. While Joan and I have season tickets, we have always given each one away as gifts.* A court security officer has this week’s tickets. Even if I wanted to go, I don’t have the physical stamina. The steroids are kicking my bony butt.

Look for the book review tomorrow, perhaps later in the day.

*By the way, if you are ever out this way, let me know in advance and you will have two free tickets and nice welcome to Lincoln. Even people who don’t like sports that much find the pageantry in the 90,000 plus seat stadium and the surrounding game day celebration in Lincoln remarkable. Everything is in walking distance if you stay in one of the hotels downtown. One warning: Come in September or October for the best weather–and wear red.

  1. Except for Ann Arbor!! Good advice by the Judge as to attending games in September or October, rather than later in the season. In Ann Arbor, wear Maize and Blue.

  2. Congratulations to Huskers fans. It was a very discouraging evening to be a Michigan fan. What a way to end the series with Notre Dame.
