Is law merely politics by another name?

Adam Liptak is one of my favorite writers on law and the courts. I urge you to read Mr. Liptak’s piece in the New York Times entitledĀ The Polarized Court (May 10, 2014).*

For those like me who desperately cling to the ideal that law should be and can be neutral and politics is not and never will be, Liptak’sĀ hard-headed and well-researched realism is both revealing and depressing.
